We All Have a Body
Anyone who has been on a journey with their body knows how powerful and liberating it can be. You may have (at least) glimpsed the sense of peace and well being that is available to all of us. Many of us know that when we do things in our body, such as massage or dancing, we feel great. But it can feel like a luxury - an indulgence so many of us struggle to allow ourselves or prioritise. It’s often bottom of the never-ending list of things to do.
Sadly, many of us have not experienced the bliss of mindful attention through touch or perhaps not for a long time. Thai Yoga Body Work is said to be a physical application of what the Buddhists call Metta or Loving Kindness. The first experience can be emotional and liberating. For body workers and practitioners, Thai Yoga Body Work is a wonderful compliment to an existing practice. For everyone – even completely inexperienced, stiff or inflexible people - it is an opportunity to experience the incredible benefits of yoga, passively, while being completely relaxed and cared for.
Since I started this journey, I have been privileged enough to hold space for people coming with a variety of different needs. Many experience feeling safe for the first time since they can remember. Or, feel touched with love for the first time. People discover places of tension or pain which have been begging to be expressed and heard. How noisy and full our lives are that we find it so difficult to tune in to what is right here, asking for our attention and love.
As well as a deeply nurturing, healing and blissful experience, Thai Yoga Body Work provides an opportunity to come home to what’s right within us already, to really stop for a few hours, to be with the beautiful, ‘soft animal’ of our body (as the poet, Mary Oliver puts it). For some, that can be difficult, but it is also emancipating. For many, it is a doorway through which we can return.
Your healing awaits you
These sessions are teaching me to nurture and look after myself. It is a very nourishing experience.
Love the delicious snacks.
